Evrah Rose is a dynamic force in contemporary poetry and spoken word, known for her fearless approach to storytelling and her dedication to social justice. As a two-time published author, record label founder, and recipient of the F. Jones Award, Evrah has made a significant impact both locally and nationally. Her work fuses rhythmic storytelling, hip-hop, and raw, conscious poetry, drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Tupac Shakur, Stacey-Ann Chin, and Kae Tempest.
With several million streams on her spoken word films, Evrah has become a prominent voice in tackling serious societal issues. Her reach extends across major platforms such as the BBC, The Times, ITV, and BBC Sport, where she has featured on radio and TV, including presenting on BBC Radio 5 Live. Extending her impact, Evrah was a BBC Bitesize panel member during the BBC’s centenary UK tour in 2022, inspiring young minds to explore careers in storytelling.
Her creative endeavors are extensive, with residencies at Wrexham AFC and Tŷ Pawb, and commissions for organizations such as Shelter Cymru, Chwarae Teg, and The Bevan Foundation.
A captivating performer, Evrah has headlined events across the UK, from Apples and Snakes and Speak Your Mind, to the Homeless World Cup, and Wrexham AFC's Cae Ras stadium.
Her poetry film, Will You Be Coming Back?, raises awareness about domestic violence in same-sex relationships, while her contribution to Welsh Women’s Aid’s “Live Fear Free” campaign underscores her commitment to combating gender-based violence.
In September 2024, Evrah wrote and performed the opening piece for New Sinfonia’s opera, 'Gresford: Up from Underground', a moving tribute to the 90th anniversary of the Gresford mining disaster. Her performance, accompanied by the New Sinfonia orchestra, took place before a live audience at the historic Wrexham Parish Church, blending powerful spoken word with orchestral arrangements to honor the memory of those affected by one of Wales’ most tragic mining events.
Evrah’s powerful film, 'Invisible Me', is currently touring galleries across Wales as part of Wanda and David Garner’s acclaimed exhibition, 'Pantomime/Behind The Mask'. Showcasing her signature raw and evocative style, the film delves into themes of identity, isolation and the hidden struggles associated with chronic illness. Invisible Me was recently selected by SYMUD to feature in their 'Exhibition of Moving Images' in CARN.
Evrah’s highly anticipated third musical project, 'Link In Bio', is set for release in early 2025, promising to further cement her reputation as a fearless and innovative voice in contemporary music and spoken word.
