Peterloo Poems by Manchester People (Pictures)

Tuesday night (Well, 06 August 2019) I was very honoured to be part of a major poetry reading in Manchester Central Library talking in poetic terms Peterloo which on 16th August 2019 was two hundred years.

There was a lot of readers there all of who read out to a large crowd (Possibly 100 +)

Ocean in a Bottle - two new releases

Over this year, Ocean in a bottle my ambient / piano / drone project has been burrowing deeper and deeper into the theme of outer space and slowly over time touching on all of the planets, moons and everything that makes it such a beautiful place to look at.

One of my favourite planets growing up was Saturn, the 6^th planet in our solar system and the sings which cover in a stunning beauty of which then made sense to create the first album in this sequence after a ever increasing number of singles / Eps over the past nine months or so.

‘On Saturn's Wings’ contains two long, epic ambient drones spinning into a more spiralling, freer form and carries its drones across an imaginary journey between beauty and a paradox of what it is seen and what is not seen.

My second release within the space of a few days has come out on the excellent Silbermedia with a piece called 'Birds on the Roof with a bad throat at Manchester Victoria train station just before the moon rises'.

In contrast to 'On Saturn's Wings' this is a strict field recording (of course with a few edits if you listen carefully) recorded at Manchester Victoria Train Station inbetween train journeys going home from work. In contrast to 'On Saturn's Wings', this is a totally different form but something quite different to do, and something that was great fun exploring and I am pleased to announce is part of Silbermedia's August series of Field Recordings. Change of http for Comics Unity.

A few of you may have notice Comics Unity has had some kind of problem with facebook

with them saying the website is spam.

I have reported it to them and have alas no idea (even though blogging it on other mediums such as Mixcloud has been okay), this been the case it has now resulted in it been moved to

a new bandcamp page https://comicsunitypodcastseries.bandcamp.com instead of https://comicsunitypodcast.bandcamp.com/

I have moved over Episode 9 and the last three specials onto the new page, and will be posting all new material on this page going forward.

Comics Unity Podcast Bad News..

Comics Unity as a few of you has been at least a monthly Podcast featuring myself, Andy N and Michael Bradbury since November 2018 on https://comicsunitypodcast.bandcamp.com/ discussing the latest in comics, related films and Tv news.

However, for reasons we can’t understand facebook have decided the bandcamp page is spam and will not let me post any of the episodes there (in contrast to all other social platforms) but will let me post it on mixcloud.

Facebook hopefully will be sorting this out and will let us post it again shortly on there.

However, if we do not get access to this on facebook next few days, we will be moving this over to another page (as we done nothing wrong and maybe youtube as well as Mixcloud.

Speak Easy (Pictures from July 2019

A few of you know I co-host a lovely spoken word open mic in Stretford (UK) called Speak Easy.

The night has recently been going great guns and here are the pictures from our most recent night..

Regret (New Poem)

Sea-tinged like she was stood
on top of an ancient pirate boat
keeping her eyes open for the military
as she flung open the cage
in the field next to the ocean
clearly hoping that the birds would take the hint

Laden in love but wavering in doubts
all the way down from her car
stopping twice barely able to carry on
but telling herself she had to silently
until she reached the edge of the fields
unable to look as she opened the cage

And after she heard them fly away
she could barely look backwards
all the way back to her car
and must have stood there
for at least five minutes
before she opened the car door.

It’s what she would have wanted
she told herself all the way back
the tears falling slowly down her cheek
despite knowing deep down it was the opposite
her regrets carried across the breeze
as she heard them fly towards over the cliff. 

It’s what she would have wanted she told herself
listening to their howls of delight
when they left the cage to the sky
her words melting like 
snowflakes in June in seconds
rolling in the gutters in sighs.
