Last night at Speak Easy (Our Spoken Word Open Mic night at Dulicmer, Chorlton) was a special night for a few reasons as a old uni friend of mine who I have known for the better part of 25 years read, Andy and also Natasha Tingle (who guest hosted) had the pleasure of introducing her son, Simon on stage, Speak Easy I’ve found over the years, me, Amanda and Steve Smythe have ran it have found it is full of wonderful little stories which bring it together into the welcoming and friendly and supportive family that it was. I found out off Andy this morning before he drove back home, he thought it was going to be a quiet, little reading maybe around the table, not having 22 readers and over 50 to 55 people attending with people from Simon’s age (21) right up to Kevin Bamford (who is 90) and he said to me honestly, he wishes he lived more local as he would be there all the time.
