NaPoWriMo 2020 and Spoken Label News / Living Room sessions on youtube

Over the past six years I have using NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month for those who have never heard of it) as a exercise in writing a 30 part poetry sequence called Ghost Story, where I took the main two characters Andy and Michelle in a series of supernatural led adventures against all kinds of creatures and monsters and left them left witnessing the death of their own world.

Whether I will return with Ghost Story VII, all shall be revealed in time (In short, I don’t know yet) but this year the story will be called Fragments of David.

I’ll not reveal much yet as to be honest I don’t know all of the story yet myself, but it will start with a death and then.. I’ll let you find out for yourself.

Keep an eye on this blog and all been well, first thing in the morning a new part will follow. To make life harder for myself , each part shall be 10 lines, nothing more, nothing less, 2 x 5 line stanzas.

My Living Room Sessions (on youtube) is still dropping a new poem every day and all been well and will carry on for a while.

Total pieces so far have been:

New article on Spoken Label

A nice article about Spoken Label (My poet / author / artist Podcast) which for the first time after five years with the current crisis sweeping England has now become the present of poetry sessions instead of the future  has now appeared on Write Out Loud.

the streets were all we could see

Released today, I am pleased to announce my 4th poetry book 'The Streets were all we could see', Stepping away at least from my last two poetry books 'The End of Summer' and 'Birth of Autumn' (although a Winter book 'In the Midst of Winter' is nearly ready), the streets were all we could see is a collection of tiny almost flash fiction pieces masked as poems, each no more than 10 lines.

Each piece in this book is told as almost a tiny murmur, a grasping of emotions in the most tiny fragments of life from chasing goodbyes on front doorsteps to abandoned bicycles outside shopfront windows and cars dying when you least expect. The streets were all you could see explores life through a different lens like a picture catching a memory before memory distorts it taking you on a transformative journey from the good and the mad moments and everything that flows in-between it.
